My red pants are Vogue 1039.
This was my movie night look. My red pants have quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. And since I was going to a chilly movie theater, I grabbed my denim shirt. I was going to make one, but I happened to see the one I'm wearing in DKNY on DEEP discount. It would have cost more to make it.
But here are the patterns that I probably would have picked from:
Butterick 5526 - Which I've already made in white.

One of my faves! I have several in the closet and wear them till they are thread bare. I find I always buy them because I can't find the right weight denim to make my own. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteNo Bunny, I haven't found any fabric either. That had been a problem. I bought some shirt weight chambray but it was lighter than what I wanted. But if I find any, I'll post.
ReplyDeleteI might have a solution-purchase 1/8 of a yard of the lightest weight denim you can find and wash it. There is often so much sizing/starch/whatever in denim that what you feel on the roll is very often a much lighter weight than it seems at first touch.
ReplyDeleteooops-didn't finish that one! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, once you've found a good weight you can go back and purchase your yardage.
Loving this look! The red pants are gorgeous and if you can find a shirt that fits you so well and for such a fabulous price then that is a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love the red pants. Went to our favorite store (Gail K) purchased some cotton rayon spandex to make a pair. They didnt have red. I selected royal blue. BTW don’t you love your hair?
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to make a pair of skinny pants in royal blue. And I want a pair in bright yellow too. And possible a nice wool skinny trouser in fucshia as well. I'm all about the brights this season.
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm loving my hair so much!
Gorgeous Fabrics had a lovely 3 oz, no lycra, dark denim by a Japanese manufacturer that was "to die for". I only bought 3 yards and wish I'd bought 12. Maybe Ann can get more.
ReplyDeleteLove your red pants!

Thanks for the post. I have a cute denim shirt that I adore from a few years ago but I seem to struggle with wearing it. This gave me some ideas for an old favourite.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for pencil pants myself. You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love denim shirts. They don't every go out of style. I had a poet style denim shirt years ago and if it hadn't gotten a stain on it, I'd probably still be wearing it. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteOMG! You are truly DIVINE!!
ReplyDeleteI love that color combo! You look great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE HAIR!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been planning to make a denim shirt. Thanks for the pattern suggestions. You are right on time.
