Mixed prints is a trend that I've been loving for a while and I've really been wanting to jump head first into it!
Here are some great inspiring tips I discovered on Pinterest. And yes, I have an entire board dedicated to Print Mixing!
For this look, I pulled from my closet. I chose Simplicity 4112 for the top; Simplicity 2512 and my leopard print slingbacks.
My idea of print mixing is to at least make sure all of the colors "blend". Black and white polka dots... there's black and white in the printed skirt. There is brown/tan also in the skirt and it's carried over to the leopard print shoes.
But the way I see it, leopard functions as a neutral and goes with everything!
Let's talk about sewing mojo. Mine has gone missing. This is something that seems to happen every year around this time. I want to sew fall clothes so badly, but it's 91 degrees and humid. Not conducive to wearing woolens and tweeds... sigh. So I get in a sewing funk. But I'm on the verge of shaking it. So far, I've taken this time to sort through patterns that I've been saying that I wanted to sew for a while now to add them to the top of my list. I've also made a list of fabrics that I want to buy. And I've allowed myself the time to flip through the September magazines. There are several trends that I MUST have. I'll talk about those later. Also, September brings homecoming! So whether I want to sew or not, this weekend I'll be working on Mikaela's homecoming dress. Look for a post on that by September 15th.

ReplyDeleteThanks pdiddly!
DeleteArtfully done. Print mixing is hard to pull of, but stunning when it works. And your ensemble works!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the sewing funk. I have a lot of other draws on my time right now, but Autumn comes quickly in Northern Europe. So, I shouldn't shilly shally!
Thanks Karin!
DeleteI like the mixed print look also. Great skirt, top and shoes combo. I need think as you did that my leopard shoes are a neutral, I would definitely get more wear out of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. You should!
DeleteGreat look! And leopard goes with everything - agree)
ReplyDeleteI am also looking for my sewing mojo, but had to start with the fall wardrobe already for my Burdastyle challenge.
Can't wait to see your fall inspiration images!
Thanks Marina!
DeleteBeautiful as always. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Darling "B"!
DeleteYou look great as usual, and thanks for the inspiration--I think I only ever know about trends because of you! I wish I had your closet to shop from!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Thanks for the tips on mixing prints--I'm pretty anal about it. I have a difficult time making it happen. I bookmarked this post to use it as a reference!! Whoo too! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mocha Scrapper!
DeleteI understand about the missing mojo - since mine went missing during my sewing vacation. Thankfully our weather starts to cool off next week, hopefully yours will soon too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolyn! I hope so too!
DeleteI'm with you on the missing mojo too. I had to FORCE myself to get back into things. I had such high hopes for sewing this summer...and then boom...no physical desire to do so. bleh. Alas, I started forcing my brain into thinking about fall/winter (I even created a fashion diary/list--let's see how that goes).
ReplyDeleteLOVE that outfit (especially those shoes!!) You ROCKED the heck out of those prints!
Thanks Divamazon!
DeleteI like print mixing, and I definitely need to pin that tips page. Your outfit is awesome. I really love that skirt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Crystal!
DeleteWhat an amazing outfit. Love the tones and you've inspired me. I have two pieces of polka dot fabric in my stash that I've been wondering how to wear.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail!
DeleteHey Erica! I am loving all your Pinterest inspired looks!
ReplyDeleteThanks QueenSH!
DeleteBeautiful! Where did you get the skirt fabric? I think I'll try the print mixing, something new for me!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lupe... I bought it at Joanns 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI thought I saw it at JoAnn's just last month. I'll have to go back and check it out.
ReplyDeleteNo missing mojo here. The only problem is now that school is in full swing, I don't have time to sew. I buy all the fabrics and sew them up during Christmas and Thankgiving break.
ReplyDeleteLove this skirt! I have a pink one that is similar if I can still squeeze into it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nikkipooh!
