*NEW* Vogue Patterns - Spring 2014!

The new Spring 2014 Vogue Pattern Collection has finally been released.  Sit back and have a looksie in their lookbook!

They were shipped and unpacked in my Joann's a few days ago.  And thanks to Enabler Adrienne, I jumped in my car and made my purchases!  These are the ones I picked up and plan to go pick up more!

What do you think of this new collection?  Anything peaking your interest?

  1. Those look nice - now I'll need to make a stop at JoAnn's soon!

  2. I like the 1380 Pamela Roland dress (though I can't understand Vogue's choice of fabric for the pattern cover, as usual!).

    1. That's probably why it didn't appeal to me. Sometimes it takes a minute for a pattern to grow on me. Like I accidentally see the line drawing! LOL

  3. I love the tabs and hardware on the Tracy Reese dress.

  4. I'm dying over the Ralph Rucci 1381 - it has gorgeous details and I'm very much interested in the use of fleece in the interfacings - of course for the quilted sections. Haven't seen anything that really peaked my interest from the Big 4 in some time, but that, I have to have!

    1. The quilted details interest me also. I've never done that before.

  5. I've tried for 2 days in a row to buy them at Hancock's $3.99 sale. The trouble is, I keep misreading the flier for when they go on sale!!! Duh! Going to try again tomorrow. I love that Ralph Rucci dress and the Rebecca Taylor blouses. I also love the Donna Karan high waisted skirt + knit top combo and the Anne Klein blazer with the interesting collar/vest look combo. Lots of pretty!

They won't be in Australia for 6 months so I'm waiting for a BMV sale to order - I'm going to get the Donna Karan dress and Donna Karan separates, the Rucci dress & the Anne Klein dress. Can't wait!!

    1. Here (Canada), the local fabric store that carries Vogue, McCall's and Butterick get stock in a least a month or more behind the online release. I'm also waiting for a BMV sale to order. Hopefully soon.

  7. These are all very nice - I've been a bit disappointed with Vogue patterns over the last few years, but the majority in the lookbook are wonderful.

    1. I agree with you. I've been disappointed in them too. So much that I've been sewing a lot of out-of-print patterns.

    2. Same here...sewing out of print. I usually go directly to the line drawings just because that is the only way to really see how they are made. The Rebecca Taylor shirt really caught me eye.

This is a really great release of patterns. I haven't bought too many Vogues in the past year.

  11. I love love love this collection! I have quite a few in my shopping cart and I'm just waiting for a sale to purchase. That Tracy Reese dress and Rebecca Taylor blouse are my favorites. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make. Which one do you think you'll try first?

    1. I don't know. But I've already ordered fabric for 1379, 1384 and 1387. It may be the Rebecca Taylor blouse in crepe de chine. Because that's something I can wear now.

  12. I love this collection too! My favorites:V1381 Ralph Rucci, V1384 Donna Karan and V1389 Donna Karan (my first choice to make) skirt, top and jacket ensemble. As a BMV pattern club member, I'll wait on the sale. I expect a sale soon usually priced at $3.99. Have fun, can't wait to see which one you'll sew first!

  13. I love the Donna Karan and Ralph Rucci patterns. Will have to bounce my way over to JoAnn's in 8 degree weather after work today...That's what I call faithful to a cause.

  14. Definitely that long sleeve Rebecca Taylor blouse and possibly that jacket that looks like it has a peplum back. Thank God for the online sales they have...no Joann's in Brooklyn. :-(

  15. Definitely 1381! Would you say the "advanced" status is due to the yoke treatments? Or because of that lovely curved neckline? hmmmm. I pinned it as soon as I saw it.

    1. Ralph Rucci is a couturier and his patterns are always advanced. They have a lot of different techniques. But you learn a lot. But I would say due to the quilted details with the sew-in fleece.

  16. I really like the long-sleeved blouse in 1387. I see you picked that one up, I'd love to see your rendition of it! And I was also excited to see that they released some new men's patterns as well. I'll have to look over those pants and see if my husband might like them. The messenger bag is nice as well.

    1. I made a blouse like that previously. I was actually going to make the sleeveless one so that I can wear it now and later.

  17. I find the patterns a bit boring like something you have seen over again...I really don't like the fabric choices..feels like I'm looking at patterns from the 90's..but I'm pretty sure you will work your magic and produce something stunning!;)

    1. No one likes the fabric choices on pattern envelopes -- EVER! LOL

My preferences these days run toward the art-to-wear side of things (probably a reaction to all the business suits I've had to wear over the years), so I've got pretty much every Marcy Tilton pattern they put out. Not sure what I'll do with the skirt and vest-y top in this batch, but the shirt pattern will be great for some silks I've been hoarding..

  19. I'm SO intrigued by that Ralph Rucci pattern with all the quilting! The Tracy Reese pattern is another favorite. Great purchases!

  20. I'm so happy with this collection! I usually sit down all excited to look through the patterns and am disappointed - not this time! I can't wait to see how you interpret them, i'm sure it will be lovely as usual!
I'm waiting for a sale then will be picking up the Ralph Rucci, Donna Karan separates, and the Rebecca Taylor top (among others I'm sure :)

  21. I just stumbled upon your great blog and have added it to my blog roll.

I've sewn three patterns from that spring collection, so I guess I liked it! I made the Rebecca Taylor long sleeved shirt, the black/white color blocked dress in one printed fabric, and I made a shortened version of the blue dress with the long side hem to wear as a long top.

  22. Hello Erica, I hop you won't mind a sewing-related spelling correction – the correct phrase is actually "piquing one's interest" – it comes from the same root as piqué fabric – and it means "to prick one's interest", or in other words, to get your attention. I think people get mixed up with "to have one's interest peak", which is a different phrase that describes when your interest in a topic hit maximum (and implies that it declined afterwards). So, for example, "My interest in sewing peaked in 2018, when I sewed a wedding dress. After that year, I switched my preference to baking."

    Cheers, Sarah

    1. I do mind. And I think you're just plain silly for even doing this to a post that was written FIVE DAMN YEARS AGO. If you sew, go do it... Jesus Christ! You have way too much time on you're hands.
