Mikaela's 18th Birthday!

Today is my sweet baby girl's 18th birthday.  It's also compounded with dorm shopping and lots of college prep currently going on.  So as you can imagine, I'm filled with lots of emotions.  When my two older kids were off doing their big kid's activities, it was just me and the baby.  She was the one hanging out in the sewing room with me doing homework, reading books, playing with toys and just chatting me up.

In the last ten years since I've been home full-time, she's been attached at my hip.  And now it's time to cut the cord and send my little princess out into the world.  But I know that we've raised a smart, kind and thoughtful young woman with a level head, and she's going to be great.

I just wanted to share with you all, 10 years of creating for Mikaela -- from crocheted and knitted sweaters to her high school graduation look.
Join me in wishing her much success as she enters this exciting new chapter of her life!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKAELA!

  22. First of all, congrats on raising such a beautiful young lady. It is very emotional cutting the apron strings and letting them loose to find their way. My daughter is 27, so I know what you are going through. I still have my son at home for four more years then I'll be a basket case all over again...LOL. I've only been following you for about a year, but you appear to be a very good Mom and a very inspirational person. Mikaela is very Blessed to have someone like you as a mother. Congrats on guiding her to the next level, and prepare yourself to watch her shine brightly! Happy Birthday Mikaela, enjoy your day and the up coming adventure that you are about to embark on. Peace and Blessings to you both

  23. Happy Birthday Mikaela, I wish you much success! Erica this has been the best blog post that I have ever read, so touching. Thanks for sharing with us! It's funny that I can track around when I first started reading your blog by her pictures...I definitely recall the white shorts, 2nd row. :-). I didn't comment much back then but I've loved your blog since I first found it, knitting, crochet and sewing projects!
