This dress has been in my to-sew pile for many, many summers. I'd pull it out and put it back. I happened to run across it a few weeks ago, and I promised myself that this is the summer for it.
This is Burda 7065. I think it may be out of print. The Simplicity.com website is horrible to navigate, so I'm not bothering to try and link to it. But I will say this, you can make a top or a dress and it's probably the quickest and easiest thing I've cut out and sewn in a while.
There are only 2 pattern pieces, the front and the back. I cut the size 16 and made a swayback adjustment and a full seat adjustment. I added 5" to the length because I wanted a midi length.
My fabric is orange Double Weave Heavy Laguna from Zelouf Fabrics.
I rarely sew Burda patterns, so I don't know if this is common. But one thing about this pattern that stood out to me is how roomy it is in the bust and how "snatched" it is in the waist. I guess European women have big boobs and tiny waists.
I absolutely love this dress and I can't believe it took me years to make it. But, better late than never!
Love it! Its Gorgeous! I sew a lot of burda because of the bust room!! No FBAs when I sew them!ReplyDelete
Yes! Such a great benefit!Delete
The dress looks very good and is a good fit for you. Another win!ReplyDelete
Thank you Connie!Delete
I love your dress but I love your hair style even more; it's perfect for summer!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much!Delete
Hard to believe that there are only two pieces to the pattern for this dress. It's gorgeous. I absolutely love the color too. I agree with about Simplicity's site. They really need to fix that.ReplyDelete
Such a simple dress! Thank you!Delete
Gorgeous and elegant sundress.ReplyDelete
Thank you Cindy!Delete
Yaaaaaaas!!! You better work that!! It looks AWESOME!! Thanks 4 sharing. I may hv 2 try that pattern. Is there any internal support? Ur "girls" look great & are standing at attention...what's ur secret?ReplyDelete
And thanks 4 sharing the Zelouf website. I ordered some fabric from them and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that laguns scuba fabric that u did for the McCalls pattern. I plan 2 use it for Vogue 1545. What do u think?
No... no internal support. No secrets. I just put the dress on. Thanks!Delete
I was also wondering about whether you are wearing some kind of fancy bra or some other structural support?ReplyDelete
No fancy bra or sewn-in support. LOLDelete
