BFW Night 3...

12:30 PM

Last night, it was freezing with snow flurries.  There was no doubt about me breaking out the outerwear.  I've definitely made plenty to choose from.  So I pulled out my camel cape and draped it over an all-black ensemble, with a dash of leopard.
I was nice and warm AND fashionable!

Wearing: Cape:  Vogue 8776; blouse: Prabal Gurung for Target; pants:  Simplicity 2315; belt: Anne Klein; shoes: Sam Edelman.

Here are my favorite looks of the night:
Voted “Best Boutique” two years in a row by Birmingham Magazine readers.

Just voted by Harpers Bazaar for the sixth year in a row as a style leader for the Top 100 boutiques in the USA.

And headlining designer, ANTHONY RYAN winner of Project Runway All-Stars Season 2

I got to briefly chat with Anthony Ryan about Project Runway.  He complimented me on my outfit.  I told him I made the cape and the pants.  He suggested that I audition for Project Runway.  I told him that I don't sew "like that".  I'm like the world's slowest sewer.  And he confirmed that when they're told they have only 10 hours to complete their design, it means they ONLY have 10 hours.  I told him I'd be the only contestant in Project Runway history to not have ANYTHING to walk down the runway! LOL

Thanks to Birmingham Fashion Week for another fabulous night!

  1. I love Anthony Ryan! His yellow dress was on PR Allstars as part of his final collection. Was Josh presenting or was he modeling? I like him as well. Great pics looked like a great time and experience! Thanks for the coverage. I've been following.

    1. Anthony Ryan was great! That was Josh's walk down the runway. He did an amazing flip at the end of the runway that came out blurry on my camera. But the Birmingham News' photographer captured it perfectly: http://www.al.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2013/03/birmingham_fashion_week_contin.html

  3. You look great. Funny how you say you're a slow sewer, but I'm always impressed by how quickly you get projects done (but 10 hours for Project Runway is nuts - LOL)!

    1. I'm sure the Project Runway environment is meant to be stressful and sometimes divisive. Unlike the quiet environment of my sewing studio. It wouldn't work for me. Thanks Denise!

  4. You look abfab! Your cape reminds me of a coat I had in high school. My mother sewed all of my clothes - I mean ALL! What she could do with a bit of fabric - it was amazing. Although growing up a teen in the 60-70s in a rural farming community - what I wouldn't have given to buy OTR!! The funny thing is, I didn't know we were poor (both parents uneducated, minimum wage earners) until I was an adult and had a family of my own. But back in the day - I had a new outfit every week thanks to mom's mad skillz. I worked from the age of 14 and used my money for makeup, beautiful leather shoes and matching handbags. My camel wool coat was midi length with a faux leopard lining. I was a fashionplate and didn't even know it. No wonder the girls all hated me and the boys were all afraid of me!! If I'd had one grain of self-confidence back then - I'd have ruled the world like Madonna - LOL! I love your mad sewing skillz - just like mom's!!

    1. Marsha, it's amazing what we didn't appreciate when we were young. Nowadays, it's très chic to wear home sewn. Thanks!

What a fun event, and all your outfits were great. It's nice to know that the time constraints they lay out are held to on the show.
