McCall's 7936 - Snake Print Jumpsuit - Erica Bunker DIY Style!
Animal prints such as leopard and cheetah print are always fall staples. This season, I'm already seeing snake print everywhere. Snake print is so fabulous that it has the ability to make a plain, basic beginner-friendly jumpsuit illicitly luxurious.
While browsing the stores, I saw this delightfully comfortable jumpsuit at Anthropologie and I couldn't get it off my mind. And a couple of weeks later, I found the perfect fabric -- Silky Print Textured Ivory & Brown Snake Print Fabric at Joann.

My pattern is McCall's 7936. The legs are pegged and cropped unlike the wide legged silhouette of the inspo jumpsuit. But the deal sealer is the v-neck and the kimono sleeves.

The is a "Learn to Sew for Fun" pattern. And if I were a new-ish sewer, I'd definitely want to make this. It's so simple yet it packs a lot of fashion. And with it's limited seam design, it allows your fabric to be the shining star.

The jumpsuit has a front invisible zip and a self belt.

Here is my thread chain belt carriers. And if you don't know how to make one, I have a tutorial on How to Make a Thread Chain Loop. It's the same thing... you just make it longer.

I cut the size large and I made several fit adjustments to the pattern:

  • Added an inch to the length at the waist
  • Made a one inch swayback adjustment
  • Made a 1.5 inch full seat adjustment
  • Scooped out the crotch curve
  • Added .5 inch to the crotch length
  • Added 3 inches to the length

This is a great wear now and later jumpsuit. It pairs so well with my gold leather Vogue 1517 jacket. I can't wait until fall to really take this entire look for a spin.

  1. Have been seeing a lot of actual snake skins around the joint, this summer. Perhaps wearing a snakeskin print would allow me to infiltrate the nest ... ah, well. I am not that fond of eating mice and voles.

  2. Exquisite. Masterfully done, as usual. I say again. JoAnn's should pay you as a brand ambassador. You make them look good.
