McCall's 8037 - Winter White Evening Gown - Erica Bunker DIY Style!
In celebration of the Winter Solstice, why not a fabulous winter white evening gown? If 2020, has taught me anything, it's taught me that life is short and I need to be living it to the fullest instead of waiting for the right occasion. So, when I saw my good friend Kim's version of this dress, I knew I had to dig out this pattern and make my own.

This is McCall's 8037, view B. My fabric is stretch crepe in solid white from Joann.

I cut the size 16, because I was unsure if my fabric would have enough stretch. And the 16 was the right choice!

I made my normal adjustments: I lengthened the front bodice and adjusted the back for my sway back.

This is how the bodice looks when it first goes together. The tie goes through the top of the neckline and an opening left between the bodice and skirt. This creates a deep V front opening.

I slip stitched the front to close it up enough to make it bra-friendly. My fabric just isn't heavy and opaque enough to go sans bra.

I made a 1.5" full seat adjustment and lengthened the skirt by 6 inches.

I raised the slit about 2 inches. You can't tell because it's hidden behind the ties. But since my legs are pretty long, I could go a little higher.

I love this dress so much! As far as eveningwear goes, this is so comfortable. I didn't put on heavy duty Spanx... just a nude t-shirt bra and lightweight shapewear to prevent panty lines. I highly recommend this dress and for you to not be fearful of the plunging neckline. You sew... so sew it up!
