What I'm Wearing | Ivory + Sparkle + Shine

12:15 PM

Last night was Date Night:  Cocktails while watching the Lakers vs. Knicks!  Go Jeremy Lin!  And we saw "Safe House".  Great movie with plenty of action from beginning to end.  I highly recommend it!  Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds were excellent!
The temp starting dropping last night and it was windy, cold and misty by the time the night was over.  Seems as if everytime I wear these pants, it begins to rain.  Jinx!  And today it's freezing, so I have to pull a dreaded coat out of the closet.
If you've noticed, I take "Date Night" pretty serious.  It's that special time that my husband and I carve out for ourselves so that we can just be "us".  And I dress for the occasion.  If we were still in the dating stage of our relationship, I would have gotten all dolled-up to go out with my boyfriend.  So why not do that for my husband?!  And he does the same for me.  I think when you stop putting forth effort, that's when marriages go down hill.  After 20 years, we have to keep it fresh and fun!
Wearing:  blazer: Vogue 8333; top: sequined pullover (old) from Know Style; pants: Vogue 1059; shoes: calf-hair leopard slingbacks: last seen here; green clutch is same as here.

  7. I have noticed that you dress it up for date night and think it's fantastic. I always tell my husband if I want him to court me like I'm his girlfriend, I work to put it together to impress him like he's my boyfriend. So far, so good. I love that jacket.

  8. Looking fab as always! Love your splashes of color- unexpected and chic. I have admired your date nights and I am taking the advice to heart. I only have 10 years of marriage in and if I want to see 20 like you I better heed the warning! Lol

  12. M.Inez, the instructions are superior, you would learn a lot. My advice is to find some great fabric on clearance (this is the time of year to buy wool and wool blends) and just try it out. Thanks!

Beautiful outfit. So fun and chic!

That's a great philosophy about date night. Living near the beach in Virginia, where the atmosphere and attitude were so relaxed, we rarely dressed up to go out. Now that we live in Boston and most of our dates involve walking around the city we've both stepped it up quite a bit. It's so fun and really brings back that "excitement" :)
